    ACP Board Of Directors/Staff

Thurmond Whatley   -   Executive Director
Thurmond Whatley has been involved with ACP in many capacities since 1978. He is a director, actor, technician, and ACP Executive Director. In his non-ACP life, Thurmond is employed by Aiken Technical College as an English, Film, and Theater instructor. He also serves on the board of the Aiken Downtown Development Association and has directed their Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre productions for the past five summers. He has co-written two full-length plays with writing partner Maureen Woltermann:  Advertising for Murder  and  The Aiken Time Crime Murders .  Thurmond won ACP's first Spotlight Award for his years of excellence in volunteerism at ACP. He has directed many shows at ACP, most recently:  Leading Ladies  (Best Director for Non Musical 2009-2010),  Over the River and Through the Woods ,  Moonlight and Magnolias  (Best Director for Non Musical 2007-2008),  Five Women Wearing the Same Red Dress , and  Noises Off  among many others. He enjoys woodworking and carpentry in his spare time.  
Marcia Harris - Artistic Director
Marcia Harris has been involved with ACP since 1978, serving as actor, director and stage crew in all aspects. Marcia has also served as board of directors president several times, first vice president several times, and has served on or chaired many of the standing committees of the board.
Patrick Williams   -   Facilities Manager

Patrick has been involved with ACP since 2008 when he returned to the stage as E.K. Hornbeck in "Inherit The Wind." Since then he has been cast in a number of other ACP productions (Reuben in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," Henry Potter in "It's a Wonderful Life,' Henry Albertson in "The Fantastics," a member of the ensemble in "Frankenstein, A New Musical"), Tyler Moss in "Crossing Delancey, and served as stage manager for "The Altos". Patrick began his career as a high school English teacher where he directed the annual fall drama and was active in community theater. He left teaching after four years to pursue a 25 year career with the New York State Police, retiring with the rank of Captain in Administration with the title of "Director of Facilities Management." He and his wife Shelley moved to Aiken in 2005 where he spends his days working on his golf game.

Rob Main   -   Treasurer
Rob Main is owner of Tradewinds Fragrance Company and Select Shades an international wholesale fragrance and colorant company. He was an ACP Board Member for two years and this past year served as back up treasurer. He served as chair on Policy & Procedure and Shop Committees, as well as serving on Nominating, Finance and recently on the 10-11 Season Play Selection Committee
He has been involved in many ACP productions as set designer including Steel Magnolias, Sweeney Todd, Christmas Belles, Grease, Joseph and Wonderful Life, winning awards in set design for Steel Magnolias and Sweeney Todd. He has also won an award in costume design for Joseph...Dreamcoat. He stage managed Wonderful Life this past season, and will be stage manager for this season’s Frankenstein and RENT.
Dr. Timothy M. De Troye, GISP   -   Secretary
Dr. De Troye has served as South Carolina’s first State GIS Coordinator for the past three years, working directly with executive level personnel within state agencies to bolster return on investment. He also serves as President-Elect for the National States Geographic Information Council.
Since becoming involved with the ACP in 2009, Tim has played an active role both on and off stage. He made his ACP debut with Squabbles (Jerry) in the spring of 2010, followed by Leading Ladies (Butch/Frank), Odd Couple (Felix), and Crossing Delancey (Sam). Backstage, he was in charge of set build and design for Picasso at the Lapin Agile. He also sings with Masterworks Chorale, a community-based ensemble affiliated with the University of South Carolina Aiken. He has provided voice-over talent for videos and commercials for Fortune 500 companies, and spent five years in radio broadcasting.
Jamie Turner   -   Marketing Director
Jamie Turner has been involved with ACP since 2005 where she ran lights for Art. Since then she has been seen on stage in Vanities, Honk!, Earth & Sky, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Christmas Belles (Best Supporting Actress award), The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and Rabbit Hole. Jamie has also been an active member of the board of directors since 2008. She has chaired the marketing committee since being appointed to the board, and she chaired the play selection committee that helped choose the 2010-2011 season. Jamie has served on the Youth Wing Committee, Education Committee, Website Committee and the Coffee House Committee (where she often takes the stage for open mic) and now joins fellow ACP officers on the Executive Committee. Jamie is married to Dustin Turner, also an ACP board member, and is mother to Abigail. When not being wife, mother, actress, committee chair and board member, Jamie is employed full-time with the Aiken Downtown Development Association. It’s a full life, but it’s a blessed life, and she wouldn't have it any other way!
Lisa Fountain
Lisa has been involved with ACP since 1984 when she participated in the theater's 100th production, "Cabaret". Lisa then took a long break and came back in 2009 when she portrayed Mrs. Matthew Harrison Brady in "Inherit the Wind". She's been in several plays since then including ACP's "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Frankenstein - A New Musical", worked backstage with "Joseph...", was the makeup artist for "The Fantasticks" and trained as stage manager during "Crossing Delancy". Lisa also performed in AKB's 2010 "Cinderella". Lisa was elected to the board in October 2010 and serves on the Shop committee and was on the 11-12 Season Play Selection Committee. Lisa recently took over the role as Coffeehouse Committee Chairman.
Peg Tribert
Margaret "Peg" Tribert has been involved with the Playhouse for over twenty years, acting, assisting, managing, and most recenty, directing. She first came to Aiken in her teens, and returned shortly after her graduation from college. Peg worked in Aiken as an advocate for abused persons before attending law school at USC. She has a law practice in Aiken focused on family law, personal injury, and criminal defense. She married Doug Tribert in 1989, and he assists her at the firm. When not working or "playing" Peg is on horseback or in the low country.
Dave Engelman
Dave has been involved in ACP since moving to Aiken 5 years ago both on stage and behind the scenes designing sets for several shows. He has been involved in community theater around the country since high school and while in the military at bases in Ethiopia and Japan. In Ethiopia he organized an theater group where none existed procuring funds for productions and finding locations to perform. He has directed plays such as The Sunshine Boys, Lion in Winter & Ten Little Indians and performed in shows such as The Foreigner, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Present Laughter. While this is Dave's first board involvement in Aiken he has been involved in community theater's boards previously and has over 30 years of business experience and is looking forward to contributing. He brings a lifetime of passion for theater to the role. Dave has seen how groups of dedicated folks from Ethiopia to Japan to Texas, with little money and often no facility can bring the magic of the stage to appreciative audiences and he would like the opportunity to translate that to our ACP group.

Shannon Huey
Shannon Huey has been active with the Aiken Community Playhouse since 1997. She has worked as adult leader of the Youth Wing since that time. She has enjoyed seeing the growth of the group from 7 students to the over 60 that are active now. Shannon works primarily with the Silverberg Group (the middle school group) during the monthly meetings, but enjoys being able to work with all the actors during the 4 shows that the Youth Wing stages each year. She has been involved with 30 productions (18 Main Stage/Black Box shows and 12 Youth Wing shows) at both the "old" Playhouse and the "new" Playhouse. Shannon has worked as an actor, director and stage manager, as well as working with costumes, props, lighting, set building and set dressing. Shannon previously served on the ACP Board of Directors from 1997-1999. When she is not at the volunteering at ACP, she is a Speech-Language Pathologist at National Healthcare in North Augusta and the mother of a fabulous 17 year old daughter, Cayley.
Michael Gibbons
Mike Gibbons was born and raised in Aiken. He is a 1990 graduate of Aiken High School and a 1994 graduate of the University of Alabama. It was there he met his wife, Jennifer, an Atlanta native who escaped the big city and fled to Aiken after graduating Bama in 1995.
Gibbons first appeared on the ACP stage was in 1987, as part of the Youth Wing performance of "A Merry Medieval Christmas." In that, he played the role of God, which was not a good move for his ego. He returned to acting in 2006, playing the part of the dad in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. He was most recently seen as the Mayor in It's a Wonderful Life. His family is also involved in the theater. Jennifer founded and directs the ACP Act It Out summer camp, and has appeared on stage in Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. His daughter Allie has been in several shows at ACP, most recently as Janie Bailey in Wonderful Life, while son Parker made his debut last Christmas as Tommy Bailey in Wonderful Life. Mike is the Managing Editor of the Aiken Standard, and has written a weekly humor column for the paper since 1997.
Dustin Turner

Dustin Turner has been active with ACP since 2005. During that time, he has been a stage hand, stage manager, actor, sound designer, rigger, assistant director and director. Dustin made his debut as a main stage director in January 2011 with the production of Rabbit Hole. Dustin has appeared on stage at ACP as Ray Bud in Dearly Departed, John Curtis in Christmas Belles (Best Supporting Actor), and The Visitor in Picasso at the Lapin Agile. Dustin is in his second term on the board of directors. He has been Facility Manager and has served on several committees, including Education, Website, Youth Wing, Coffeehouse and Executive Committee. Dustin is married to ACP’s amazing Marketing Director, Jamie Turner, and they have a 4-year-old daughter, Abigail.

Dave Howard
Dave is a current member of the ACP Board of Directors, having served on the Board since the 1980’s, except for a brief intermission while he hid out in New Mexico, He has served as Board president, treasurer, and is currently head of the "ACP Flying Circus" (Rigging Crew). Dave retired as an advisory engineer from the Savannah River National Lab, and is now an independent nuclear consultant. Dave believes strongly that the Board of Directors members should represent the interests of the ACP subscribers and should work to present the kind of high-quality live theater performances that YOU want.
Dr. Lucien Papouchado
Lou is a retired senior executive with over 35 years experience in the chemical and nuclear industries. He served in senior management positions in R&D, program management, production and projects. His experience includes managing large, complex budgets, and strategic planning. He currently works part-time as a consultant for URS.
Lou has been involved on the ACP Board since 2003. He has chaired the Finance Committee, the Policies and Procedures Committee, the Disciplinary Committee and participated on the Facilities Committee. He has also been active in set construction, lighting and sound. He has initiated and led Strategic Planning for ACP yearly since 2004 and has played a key role in the budgeting process. A number of financial tracking and reporting systems have been introduced to better control and report the budget. He was also actively involved in the major upgrades to the playhouse’s sound and lighting systems.
Cathy Traver
Cathy Traver served on the Aiken Community Playhouse Board of Directors for 5 years, then took a 5 year hiatus, and is so excited to be part of this dynamic group of people again.
She served on the Executive Board as Theater Manager, Nominating (chair 2 years), Play Selection, Black Box Coffeehouse, Fund raising, and Membership Committees.
Cathy served on the Board during ACP's move to our downtown location Newberry Street. She loves working on stage, as well, and received a Best Featured Actress award for her performance as Marie in "Earth & Sky."
She is the current Arts Administrator for the Aiken Performing Arts Group, and the lucky wife of Lance and mother to Jeanette, Reese, and Callie.

Maureen Woltermann
Maureen Woltermann has been active at ACP for ten years. She is serving her third term on the ACP board, and has chaired the Coffeehouse Committee, Play Selection, and was a member of the Marketing and Finance Committee, and served as 1st VP. She most recently worked backstage and sound board for Crossing Delancey. She appeared most recently in Taking a Chance On Love , Inherit the Wind & Copenhagen and directed last season's The Foursome . She has written and produced ten short plays and co-authored two full length murder mysteries for ADDA. Maureen is a retired nurse and English instructor. She enjoys reading, golf, following medical research, working crossword puzzles, interacting with her grandchildren and playing Pickleball.
Vivian Johnson   -   Theater Coordinator
Vivian Johnson has been involved with ACP since 1990.
She has served in the theater for many years in every possible way; from acting to props to running lights. She served on the ACP Board as Secretary for many years and continues to attend meetings as Theater Coordinator. Vivian has been working as ACP’s Theater Coordinator since the opening of the building, and considers it her dream job; she plans to be here till they make her leave. Her love is theater but with a full time job and five children to look after she has not been able to be in on stage for a while. She hopes to remedy that soon and get the acting bug moving again.
