Jim Anderson was born and raised in Alaska, and has been involved in the arts his entire life. An accomplished musician, he started playing the piano at age 4, and at age 12, started playing the saxaphone, which led to a tour with with America's Youth in Concert, where he played at the White House, Carnegie Hall and toured Europe in the summer of 1980. He is a 1987 graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC (the oldest professional acting school in America), and has a Business Degree from Alaska Pacific University. He is married to wife Jodi, and has a daughter, Madison who is also involved in theater, and a member of the ACP Youth Wing's "Cole Group".
Jim is currently a Senior Marketing Manager for UPS; but remains involved in the arts. He has performed in various productions at ACP, and with the AKB (Aiken Kidney Benefit) including HONK, Oliver, Fiddler on the Roof, I Love You, Your Perfect, Now Change, and his favorite role to date: Sweeney Todd, in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (where he also served as the Musical Director) for which he won Best Actor and Best Musical Direction.
In addition to being on the board at ACP, he is also the Chairman of the Youth Wing Committee, and directs the "Cole Group", which is the advanced Youth Wing troup that requires prior experience, Youth Wing participation and an audition to join.
Jim recently appeared, with his daughter in the docu-drama: Edgewood, Stage of Southern History, where he portrayed South Carolina Governor, Francis Pickens. He loves to write and perform music, help his daughter with her musical ambitions, and do voice overs. He is also involved with the ACP Coffee House series and usually MC's, when he's not performing.
He is also a motivational speaker and involved with several non-profit agencies in Aiken County. He especially enjoys his involvement with Golden Harvest Food Bank, Camp Kemo and Children's Place, where he was the 2009 Corporate Chair of their annual "Celebrity Waiter" fund raiser.
Nancy Gamba-Hanson - Dean Group Leader
Nancy Gamba Hansen has been involved with ACP since the early 1990's, when sons Damon and Conner joined the Youth Wing. She has been primarily involved with the Youth Wing, working alongside Chuck Shick, Shannon Huey, and Jim Anderson. She has directed or assisted numerous shows, including the groundbreaking "Bang, Bang, You're Dead" and the Black Box production of "The Laramie Project" in 2008. She was awarded the "Outstanding Lead Actress" for "Dearly Departed", and was the 2009 recipient of the ACP Spotlight Award.
This is Nancy's 4th term on the BOD, and she continues to be deeply committed to the Youth Wing, as well as the artistic, educational and community aspirations of the ACP family.
Shannon Huey - Silverberg Group Leader
Shannon Huey has been active with the Aiken Community Playhouse since 1997. She has worked as adult leader of the Youth Wing since that time. She has enjoyed seeing the growth of the group from 7 students to the over 60 that are active now. Shannon works primarily with the Silverberg Group (the middle school group) during the monthly meetings, but enjoys being able to work with all the actors during the 4 shows that the Youth Wing stages each year. She has been involved with 30 productions (18 Main Stage/Black Box shows and 12 Youth Wing shows) at both the "old" Playhouse and the "new" Playhouse. Shannon has worked as an actor, director and stage manager, as well as working with costumes, props, lighting, set building and set dressing. Shannon previously served on the ACP Board of Directors from 1997-1999. When she is not at the volunteering at ACP, she is a Speech-Language Pathologist at National Healthcare in North Augusta and the mother of a fabulous 17 year old daughter, Cayley.
Gray Johnson : President
Gray Johnson has been involved with the playhouse since the mere age of 13 after participating in her first play, Alice in Wonderland. Since then, she has thoroughly enjoyed every minute of her time at the theater. Whether it be tackling Shakespeare as Hero in "Much Ado About Nothing" or getting in touch with her more studious side as teacher Sylvia in "Up the Down Staircase," her opportunities to play a variety of roles have helped her appreciate the versatility of the theater. In her free time, Gray loves planning and assisting with Youth Wing events as President, watching Glee, dancing, and reading. She aspires to have a career in International Relations and live in the beautiful city of Washington D.C. Hopefully, she will be able to continue some form of theater for the rest of her life.
Anne Ateca : Vice President
Anne Ateca joined the youth wing since 2007 after she was in the AKB's The Music Man. Since then she has become very involved in theatre performing in many youth wing shows as well as a few adult shows. Anne has done many jobs backstage such as props, dressing, and running the sound board. She was recently a counselor at ACP's Act It Out camp. This is Anne's second year of service as Vice President of the Youth Wing.
Tim Mcfall : Vice President
Tim McFall (also known as "Timmy" or "Timothy") has been an active member of the Youth Wing ever since he first got involved in 8th grade. His first show "Fairy Tale Bits & Bytes," a Garden Theater show, led him to audition for more plays such as "Much Ado About Nothing" and "Antigone." In his free time, he enjoys taking long walks on the beach, making videos for YouTube, and eating pizza. This 2011-2012 season is his first as an officer and he hopes to help the Youth Wing become more fun, helpful, and all-around awesome.
Stephen Harrison Ateca : Secretary
Stephen Ateca joined the Youth Wing only three years ago, and since then, has spent quite a bit of time at the theater. He has acted in over ten plays, including an award winning performance as Leonato in Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. He has also spent some time on the other side of the stage serving in various roles such as Director, Assistant Director, Stage Manager, Assitant Lighting Designer, Fly Operator, and Spotlight Operator. Stephen has participated in workshops with the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and the Julliard Drama School as well as attending MTI's Broadway Student Summit in NYC in Spring 2011. This is his third year as a Youth Wing student officer. Stephen is dedicated to making sure the Youth Wing is as organized as possible and making sure every member gets the most out of each experience. While not at the theater, Stephen enjoys drinking coffee,discussing philosophy, and going base-jumping
